Teacher & Parent TIP!  This effective strategy is straight from one of our professional development workshops — you won’t want to miss it!

TEACHERS:  Have you tried highlighting an ‘exemplar’ worksheet completed by a student? Here’s how to celebrate success:

  • Select an exemplary student paper.
  • Project and share it with your class.
  • Highlight the strengths and accomplishments of the student’s work.

Encourage classmates to raise their hands and share compliments. For example, “What do you admire about Kendhal’s paper? How did Kendhal demonstrate his personal best?”

PARENTS:  You can use this same strategy at home!  Here’s how:

  • Select an exemplary paper or activity completed by your child.
  • Post it on the fridge or a noticeable place in the home.
  • Highlight the strengths and accomplishments of your child’s work, pointing out what you love about it.

Every child shines in their own way.  Consider celebrating a different student each week with activities like ‘Super Scholar Time!’ or ‘Exemplar Time!’ Highlight achievements in worksheets, writing tasks, math facts, science activities, art projects, songs, and more.

Give it a try and share your experience with us!
