Overview

Looking to incorporate some Science of Reading-aligned activities into your daily reading lessons?  Tap, map, practice and explore sounds (phonemes) with our word mapping mats.  An excellent activity for literacy/center stations and or reading support, students will practice identifying sounds in common words building on phonemic awareness, spelling, and reading skills practicing CVC words.

Enjoy with letter tiles, alphabet stamps, or slide into a pocket sleeve and use white board markers.  Color-coded scaffolding provided.

Have students say the word out loud and count/tap the sounds they hear.  Then, spell the word using the boxes on the mat.  Laminate and use whiteboard pens for repeated use; or, use alphabet tiles/alphabet stamps to incorporate multisensory learning.  Excellent activity for helping students learn, identify and practice CVC words.
