Overview

Looking to incorporate some Science of Reading-aligned activities into your daily reading lessons?  Tap, map, practice and explore sounds (phonemes) with our word mapping mats.  An excellent activity for literacy/center stations and or reading support, students will practice identifying sounds in common words building on phonemic awareness, spelling, and reading skills practicing consonant blends and short vowel sounds creating 5 letter words.

Enjoy with letter tiles, alphabet stamps, or slide into a pocket sleeve and use white board markers.  Color-coded scaffolding provided.

Have students say the word out loud and count/tap the sounds they hear.  Then, spell the word using the boxes on the mat.  Laminate and use whiteboard pens for repeated use; or, use alphabet tiles/alphabet stamps to incorporate multisensory learning.  Excellent activity for helping students learn, identify and practice consonant blends in words.
